For over a century, the University of Dhaka has been more than an institution. Indeed, it has been the heartbeat of our national identity. From the first brick laid in 1921 to its emergence as the “Oxford of the East,” this historical institute has shaped the destiny of Bangladesh.

From the brave voices of the Language Movement to the historic struggle for Independence in 1971, and most recently, the courageous leadership in the July Revolution of 2024, the students of DU have always stood at the vanguard of our freedom. Their spirit is our national strength.

This 1st July, on Dhaka University Day, we call upon the entire nation—alumni, students, and patriots across the globe—to unite as one.
